In Loving Memory
I. W. Marks
Irv Marks (In Loving Memory)
Diane and Irv Marks started I W Marks Jewelers in 1978 in a small 500-square-foot store. Over the years, the couple grew the business, while connecting to the community and providing Houstonians with a jewelry selection for every taste, budget, and occasion.
IW Marks Jewelers launched an especially memorable advertising campaign in the 1980s with wrestler Paul Boesch, who wore a stunning diamond earring from IW Marks Jewelers and said, “ “If I W Marks can make my ears pretty, think of what they can do for hers.”
Irv Marks generously supported multiple organizations including the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, the Houston Grand Opera, the Houston Symphony, the Houston Ballet, the Society for the Performing Arts, the Alley Theatre, and the University of Houston’s Moores School of Music.
He also helped to renovate two theaters and a lecture hall at the Jewish Community Center. He also served on the board of Crime Stoppers of Houston for many years. His son, Brad Marks, continues that legacy of community involvement today.

Houstonians, especially sports fans, knew Marks as a pitchman bearing his name- I W Marks Jewelers. Old-timers will remember an ad he ran in the 1980s that featured now-deceased wrestler and wrestling promoter Paul Boesch. In one battered, cauliflower-ear Boesch wore a diamond earring and said something close to, “If I.W. Marks can make my ears look pretty, think what he can do for hers.” READ MORE
